I really like that as a coach, Bruce Pearl was so passionate about making sure his team was made up of not only talented players but people with character. This is so crucial to a team because if everyone was selfish, the ball would never get passed and people would want the glorified dunk for themselves or the most skillful moves on the court. Players cannot solely have talent because, without determination and drive, laziness takes over and is easily devalues the player. As a leader, you will always have people beneath you and will work with teams. As players' character on the basketball court is crucial for success, so is the character of employees in the career world. No one will have every skill in their "tool belt" of strong qualities they bring to the table. We have to learn to work together and not selfishly desiring glory for only ourselves. As Bruce Pearl stated, "when we (the team) are successful, you will benefit far more than if you as an individual are successful and the team fails."
