An important feature for innovation and progress is breaking the mold in a specific area. If you fit into that area as it exists or succumb to the status quo, you won't push yourself and the field to grow in creative, ways. What makes Kharraz great is that he recognized that he didn't fit with the field as is was typically understood--i.e. getting better at one thing. Instead of giving up or leaving the field, he found a way to make his incongruous personality push the field of medicine by thinking of it in a surprising and novel way and using this perspective to contribute to the medical field in a way that injected new ideas into it. His story highlights the value in being inclusive, especially in regard to different or seemingly ill-fitting perspectives and personalities. These are the people who will bring new life, ideas and fervor into that arena and it is important to welcome that!
